International superstar Lionel Richie to have handprints and footprints immortalised in cement 06 Feb

The TCL Chinese Theatre handprints ceremony is one of Hollywood’s richest traditions that has seen some of Hollywood’s most notable talents lay hand and footprints including fellow singers Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, directors Ridley Scott and Quentin Tarantino and Oscar winners Jennifer Lawrence and Jane Fonda.

Lionel says of the honour: “Oh my God this is absolutely incredible. This is my Hollywood dream come true.  Of all the Hollywood awards, this is the one I can share with the public forever."

The TCL Chinese Theatre handprints ceremony is rich in tradition and provides the over six million people a year who visit the site an opportunity to experience the lore of Hollywood up close, for here lay the handprints and footprints of Hollywood’s most notable talents.

Today’s news precedes the announcement that will see the Oscar and GRAMMY winner visiting iconic venues across the UK in areas such as Northampton, Perth, London, Lincoln, Shrewsbury, Leigh, Carlisle, Scarborough, Chesterfield, Hove and North Norfolk.

These will be Lionel’s first UK shows since receiving glittering reviews for the ‘All The Hits’ tour which included three nights at London’s The O2. The dates followed a phenomenal Glastonbury performance which drew the biggest crowd of the weekend as over 200,000 people flocked to the Pyramid Stage. Lionel’s incredible success continued as his album ‘The Definitive Collection’ topped the charts and provided his first UK Number 1 in 23 years.

In 2016 Lionel launched his on-going Las Vegas headline residency show, ‘Lionel Richie—All the Hits’, at The AXIS at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, where he takes his fans on a spectacular musical journey, performing a variety of his seminal hits. Having sold over 100 million albums worldwide he recently joined the judging panel on ABC’s American Idol.
