#CoronaKindness across Lincolnshire 01 May

We're bringing you another rundown of positive news stories from our friends and people around the county who are doing something amazing right now.

Donations to the COVID-19 testing centre at the Showground

For the last week, the Showground has been used as a COVID-19 testing centre and 65 staff are working around the clock carrying out crucial testing for the Lincolnshire area.

Last weekend the staff were in need of meals and refreshments as they set up on-site, we were quick to assist and contacted supermarkets and suppliers in the Lincoln area to see if they could help. Waitrose in Lincoln offered supplies for us to make packed lunches for the team at the weekend and the incredible Uncle Henry’s stepped in to provide meals for workers on-site for the last week. Our friends at Witham Oil and Paint have also donated over £1000 worth of hand sanitiser and 100.00% alcohol spray.

We’d like to thank Ruth Wilkinson from Wooden Spoon & Whisk, and Neil Everett from Selenity who joined us at the Showground at the weekend to make packed lunches last weekend.

The team at the testing centre have also had donations of beer from Dambusters Inn, cupcakes from Back Garden Bakery and refreshments from Lincoln Tea and Coffee.

Lincolnshire Community Foundation

Our friends and supporters at the Lincolnshire Community Foundation have set up the COVID-19 Crisis Fund to help older people and more vulnerable members of the community. The fund will be used towards the cost of:

  • food parcels for families, older people and those who are vulnerable because of underlying health conditions;
  • hot meals for elderly people who are self-isolating
  • volunteer out of pocket expenses (delivering food/medication/essential items)
  • supporting families on low or reduced income;
  • wellbeing checks and resources for carers;
  • telephone befriending services for those who are isolated;
  • advice and support for those in need (benefits, income, housing etc)
  • support for the homeless and vulnerable, and so much more.

To donate please visit the Lincolnshire Community Foundation donation page.

On Saturday 2 May the Community Makes Community team will be arranging a Food Bank collection from homes around Lincoln. No matter how big or small all items donated will be greatly appreciated, and donated to Lincoln Community Larder and the Lincoln Foodbank. To book a collection slot please visit the Facebook page.

Pepperell's Solicitors

Pepperells Solicitors are doing an amazing job with their Help for Local NHS Heroes campaign. They are collecting donations for nurses, carers and community health workers and ensuring all items go straight into the hands of local frontline workers. They are looking for donations of face masks, shower gels, face wipes, hand cream and lip balms, if you can donate any of these items please contact Pepperells Solicitors here.
