Food, Farming, and Flipping Omelettes! 29 Jan
Monday 23rd – Friday 27th January 2023 saw a hive of activity at the Lincolnshire Showground, as each morning we invited a class of primary KS2 students to attend Farmhouse Breakfast Week.
Farmhouse Breakfast Week involves students experiencing a series of workshops designed to celebrate Lincolnshire’s finest produce. Using local, healthy ingredients to make wholesome breakfasts, children learnt the importance of starting the day fuelled with energy.
Activities included porridge making – looking at the various healthy toppings you can include, looking at seasonality, sausage and cheese muffins with the Ladies in Pigs team, egg sorting and weighing, omelette making and learning all about the farming story, looking at the type of grains used in bread-making and more.
The eggs for the event were kindly donated by Victoria Elwess at The Egg Stop, Heapham and Waitrose sponsored the oats and milk.
Students and teachers got stuck into all the activities –
The Children had a great day learning about products grown in our area and how we can use them to make some breakfast foods. Memorable hands-on learning!

What a fantastic day! Our children have loved learning all about healthy breakfast and how many of them are sourced locally. We certainly have a few omelette fans now. Thank you!
