Children invited into magical Christmas world at Lincolnshire Food & Gift Fair 20 Oct

The Magical World of Fingley, a series of five children’s storybooks, is coming to Lincoln as part of Santa’s Workshop at the Lincolnshire Showground’s popular Food & Gift Fair, taking place on 2 and 3 December 2017.

Children are being invited on a magical Christmas adventure where they can meet two of the Fingley Pixies, Astoria and Nixie, who will lead a range of exciting activities including colouring, crafts, reading, writing, storytelling and treasure hunts.

In each of the delightful storybooks in the series, the central character DODL BEAR (who gets his name from his passion for Doing Ordinary Deeds Lovingly) takes children on an exciting adventure to a magical Eco-World far above the Universe.

DODL BEAR uses The Magical World of Fingley to teach children how to care for the world around them, as well as for themselves and others, introducing concepts such as being kind, helpful, respecting nature and caring - with the help of The Fingley Map, children can also see how renewable energy and recycling can be fun in an interactive way.

Author of the storybook series Daisa Morgan said: “We are so excited to bring The Magical World of Fingley to the Food & Gift Fair at the Lincolnshire Showground. It is so important to teach children about how to look after their world, but equally important for them to have fun!

“We hope that Astoria and Nixie can bring a lot of festive frivolity to Lincolnshire Showground alongside an important message which we at The Magical World of Fingley want to share with every child we can reach.”

The Magical World of Fingley is one of many attractions on offer for children at the Food & Gift Fair as part of Santa’s Workshop. The Creation Station, a company offering arts and crafts classes and parties for children, will have a range of Christmas crafts to get hands-on with, and little ones can decorate their own festively shaped pizzas with Super Chefs to take home and cook for dinner. Children will also be able to meet Father Christmas, who will be taking a break from his own Christmas preparations to attend the Food & Gift Fair on both days.

The Christmas-themed Lincolnshire Food & Gift Fair also offers plenty to keep adults entertained with over 150 food, drink, craft and gift exhibitors, demonstrations from local chefs and producers, and performances from local choirs.

CEO of the Lincolnshire Showground, Jayne Southall said: “Final preparations for the 2017 Lincolnshire Food & Gift Fair are now well underway and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to the Showground at the start of the festive season.

“Christmas is all about family, and we’re keen to ensure that the Fair celebrates everything that is great about Lincolnshire by offering something for everyone. Children love the magic of Christmas and we are delighted to run the Santa’s Workshop initiative for a second year following its popularity last year, and to welcome The Magical World of Fingley.

“With so much to see and do, the Fair is a true family event that has something to suit all ages and tastes. So whether you are a seasoned shopper or a soon-to-be Christmas chef, it is definitely an event not to be missed.”

The Fair is open from 9am to 4pm on 2 and 3 December 2017 and visitors will have access to free parking. Tickets for the Lincolnshire Food and Gift Fair can be bought online or over the phone at £5 each in advance, are £6 on the gate. Under 16s go free when accompanied by an adult.
