THE LINCOLNSHIRE SHOW WELCOMES THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE AND NEW CEO AT ITS ANNUAL EVENT 27 Jun

THOUSANDS descended on the Lincolnshire Showground last week as it welcomed back one of the county’s most beloved events, The Lincolnshire Show.

Organised by the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society, and back for its 138th year, the two-day event took place under blue skies, welcoming 3,000 more visitors than last year, with 4,500 school children, and over 500 exhibitors.

Marking the first Show with new Lincolnshire Showground chief executive Charlotte Powell at the helm, highlights from this year’s event included a new app to help visitors navigate the site, as well as a range of brand-new exhibitors and hours of entertainment.

These included a newly enhanced horticultural zone in the form of The Potting Shed, the Shetland Pony Grand National, and the inaugural Farmers Weekly Britain’s Fittest Farmer Qualifier, which saw a selection of farmers battle it out during a series of strength and fitness challenges.

Other favourites from the two days included daring stunts from three-time British Motocross Freestyle Champion Jamie Squibb and an exhilarating show from the RAF Falcons.

Charlotte Powell, chief executive of the Lincolnshire Showground, said: “The Lincolnshire Show 2023, marked my first Show as chief executive, and what a way to kickstart my new role.

“I’m Lincolnshire born and bred, and I have been surrounded by farms and farmland for most of my life, so I’m always really passionate about building awareness of the importance of the farming world here in the UK.

“Each year, the Lincolnshire Show marks an important opportunity to celebrate all the region has to offer, so it was fantastic to see us exceed last year’s attendee numbers. There were so many highlights across both days too, including talented performances and brilliant livestock shows. This year also saw the introduction of the newly enhanced horticultural zone as well as the brand new Blue Light Zone where a range of emergency service workers shared their experiences of the critical work they do across the county.”

Visitors were also spoilt for choice with hundreds of exhibitor’s selling everything from handcrafted furniture and fine art, to handmade jewellery and luxury clothes. Meanwhile, foodies enjoyed a range of cookery demonstrations in the Lincolnshire Kitchen from top chefs, as well as food from a large selection of vendors.

Charlotte added: “The sun was out in full force across both days, and the atmosphere on site was incredible. I’d like to say a huge thank you to all the families, schools, agricultural workers, sponsors and exhibitors who attended this year’s event. Big thanks also to all the staff, stewards and the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society – without all their hard work, this event would certainly not have been possible.

“It’s great to have joined the team during what is shaping up to be a fantastic year for Lincolnshire Showground, and I look forward to building on the team’s successes to date, with even more great events and conferences still to come over the coming months.”

The Lincolnshire Show is organised by the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society, a charity that aims to educate the county about food, farming and a sustainable environment.
