THE LINCOLNSHIRE AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY APPOINT NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE 05 Jun

Lincolnshire Agricultural Society (LAS) has today announced the appointment of Charlotte Powell as the Chief Executive Officer. Charlotte was selected by the Board of Trustees following an extensive and highly competitive search. She will start the role just before the 138th Lincolnshire Show and will lead LAS into delivering its charitable remit, managing the extensive events programme and an ambitious vision for the Lincolnshire Showground.

Charlotte has joined LAS at an exciting time for the charity, as it expands its year-round educational and agricultural initiatives, on-site developments, which includes a new petrol station by The Brookfield Group and plans for further developments, as well as enhancing our extensive events programme.

Andrew Buckley, chairman of LAS, said: “At the heart of Lincolnshire Agriculture Society is a committed and talented group of employees, trustees, and volunteers, who I am sure will be supportive of Charlotte in her new role as chief executive.

Charlotte previously was the general manager  for Norwood Park, where she transformed a family run estate into an award-winning leisure and events business. She led a range of CAPEX projects at Norwood, including a full renovation of the impressive Norwood Hall and surrounding gardens. Previously Charlotte has worked at a variety of venues and iconic locations in Lincolnshire including Lincoln Castle, Gainsborough Old Hall, Usher Art Gallery and Harlaxton Manor. She played a key role to some of the most prestigious events held across the county, including large scale music concerts, Lincoln Christmas Market, Lincoln’s Christmas Light Switch On, Freedom Parades, Outdoor Cinema Experiences, Food Festivals, Twinning and Royal Visits and much more.

Andrew added: "Charlotte is strongly placed to lead the Society in its future plans. In addition to her wide-ranging skills, she has invaluable business management experience which will contribute to the long-term future and success of the LAS. Charlotte will be in position in time for the 138th Lincolnshire Show, which is a truly unmissable event and a great flagship for our county.”

Charlotte said, “I am delighted to be appointed as the chief executive  for Lincolnshire Agricultural Society. This incredible charity has an impressive reputation for supporting agriculture and education for Lincolnshire, with a strong desire to offer a range of events for the local community and an enviable reputation as a leader in sustainability.

Lincolnshire Showground has an extremely talented team, who have achieved remarkable things over the years. I am really looking forward to working with the trustees, staff, and other key stakeholders to continue the vision to develop and enhance the reputation of the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society in promoting agricultural and supporting the local community.”

Charlotte officially joins the Society on 5th June 2023.
