School pupils learn all about the most important meal of the day at Farmhouse Breakfast Week 18 Jan

The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society, along with school children from a number of primary schools across Lincolnshire, will hold a week of workshops to teach young people about the importance of a healthy breakfast and celebrate Lincolnshire’s finest produce.

For a week from Monday 21 January school children will take part in a fun-filled morning of activities at the Showground. Pupils will be given the opportunity to get hands-on by making their own porridge, making bacon muffins with Ladies in Pigs, egg sorting and weighing with Scaman’s Eggs, omelette making with Wooden Spoon & Whisk and learning all about the journey our breakfast takes from farm to fork.

Education and Development Officer, Rosie Crust, said: “This will be the fifth year that we have hosted our Farmhouse Breakfast Week and we’re really excited to be welcoming pupils from a number of schools across Lincolnshire.

As the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society, we know how important it is to engage and educate young people on food, farming and the countryside, and we run a number of educational events throughout the year at the Lincolnshire Showground. We are always working hard to ensure the next generation understand the link between agriculture and food so we are very proud to be running this exciting event!

We’ve had tremendous interest from schools wanting to get involved with the event and this is the second one we’ve hosted in the last couple of months.”
