Sarah Carter joins the team 06 Mar

Since the Epic Centre was built in 2008 it has transformed the Lincolnshire Showground - the addition to our flexible facilities has increased the diversity of our events and has firmly placed us on the map as an events venue with a difference.

Here at the Showground we have a dedicated team that works hard to help event organisers put together a huge number of events and a great reputation for our diverse and varied annual calendar. In addition to the hundreds of events we host each year, we also organise four of our very own - the Lincolnshire Farming Conference, Countryside Lincs, the Lincolnshire Show and the Lincolnshire Food and Gift Fair - and as the business continues to thrive, we have exciting plans to host more in-house events.

Sarah's role as Business Development Manager will include hospitality, membership offers and sales opportunities, and with her local contacts, experience and knowledge will strengthen the Showground team and help to take the business to the next stage.

Welcome to the team, Sarah!

What did you do before coming to the Lincolnshire Showground?

Prior to joining the team at the Showground, I have spent the last 12 years working at Lincolnshire Media - the last five years as Events Manager and previously I was the Regional Promotions Coordinator.

What are you most looking forward to about your role at the Showground?

I'm looking forward to seeing how events are managed from the 'other side'! I've held a number of events not only at the Showground but many venues in and around Lincoln and it will be fascinating to learn how to manage and deliver an event from a venue's perspective.

I'm also looking forward to building on the already successful client base and growing the number of events the Showground holds. And, of course, I can't wait to see what happens behind the scenes on Lincolnshire Show days!

What is your specialist skill?

I have always prided myself on having an understanding of my customer needs. I believe that communication and partnerships are vital in business and that all relationships should be built on trust and honesty. Over the years I have built up an excellent client base, but I would still treat my clients as though it's the first day of meeting.

I am also a bit like an elephant and tend not to forget anything!

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

It may be a bit of a cliche but I'm happiest when spending time with my family and friends. Nothing makes me smile more than either a winter walk finished with a cold glass of wine in front of the fire, or a family BBQ sat in the sunshine with everyone laughing and giggling around me!
