Lincs Show 2019: Smiles, sun and special celebrations filled the Showground 24 Jun

Taking place 19 and 20 June at the Lincolnshire Showground and under the theme ‘Making Memories’, the 135th Lincolnshire Show saw a range of exciting attractions in the Main Ring, including a Parade of Machinery through the years and a thrilling display from the RAF Falcons.

Jayne Southall, CEO of the Lincolnshire Showground, said: “The Show has been a great success for the special anniversary year and I am delighted that so many people from Lincolnshire and further afield came to enjoy the amazing attractions and the very best that Lincolnshire has to offer.

“I have loved seeing so many families and school children this year and it’s great to see the younger visitors having fun learning about the importance of agriculture, food and farming.

“I would like to thank the Lincolnshire Showground team and the hundreds of traders, performers and stewards who helped make the two days a memorable and an unforgettable experience for everyone who came. The Lincolnshire Show is such a significant event for Lincolnshire and something the county is extremely proud of.”

The Show, which is organised by the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society; a charity that aims to educate the county about food, farming and a sustainable environment, produced one of its most exciting shows yet which also marked 60 years of the Show at the Lincolnshire Showground.

Alfie, aged five, said: “I’ve had a really good time at the Lincolnshire Show - my favourite things were all the planes, tractors and motor bikes! I enjoyed visiting all the animals and we got to go up really close to them so that was fun!”

As well as exploring the county’s rich heritage, visitors were spoilt for choice at the Show’s 600 trade stands selling everything from locally produced crafts and jewellery through to handmade furniture and kitchens. Foodies enjoyed a range of cookery demonstrations in the Lincolnshire Kitchen from top chefs, as well as a huge selection of food and drink outlets including Lincolnshire sausages, cheese, chocolate and locally distilled gin.

Holly Bryant, from Designed for Dogs and this year’s winner of the Grow with the Show, said: “It’s been a brilliant two days, we’ve had lots of sales and have done even better than last year. From winning Grow with the Show, it has given us a great boost and provided us with our trade stand which was in a fantastic location and included as part of our prize.

“With thousands of people visiting the show it is a great place to showcase yourself and your business to a large local audience. I’ve got lots of deliveries to make over the next few days so I’m going to be busy.”

Robert Goodwill MP, minister of state for environment, food and rural affairs, who visited the Show on Thursday, said: “I was delighted to attend the Lincolnshire Show today, which is a fantastic showcase for agriculture in this region.

“Celebrating an impressive 150 years of the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society, it is especially encouraging to see local farmers and food producers out in force and undeterred by the rain.

“We know that the recent wet weather has caused issues for farmers in this area, and we are monitoring the situation very closely.”

Lincolnshire Show 2020 is set for 24 and 25 June next year.
