Lincolnshire Farming Conference 2025: ‘Inspiring the Next Generation’ Sparks Vital Conversations on the Future of Farming 17 Feb
The Lincolnshire Farming Conference 2025, hosted at the Lincolnshire Showground on Thursday 13th February 2025, brought together industry leaders, young farmers and agricultural experts for a dynamic day of discussions, innovation, and collaboration. With a strong focus on sustainability, technology, and the next generation of agricultural pioneers, the event provided a crucial platform to explore the future of farming.
Held at the EPIC Centre, this year’s conference featured inspiring speakers, interactive panel discussions and valuable networking opportunities. Attendees delved into key topics such as the evolving agricultural landscape, the challenges facing the industry and the importance of equipping the next generation with the knowledge and tools to drive farming forward.
Charlotte Wright, Chair of the conference, reflected on the significance of the event, stating:
“It was a great privilege to chair this year’s conference at such a pivotal time for the farming community. I extend my gratitude to our Steering Group Committee for bringing this conference to life. The theme, ‘Inspiring the Next Generation,’ resonated strongly, sparking meaningful conversations on succession planning, career pathways and the latest innovations in the sector.”
The conference showcased a diverse lineup of speakers, from multi-generational farmers to first-generation agricultural entrepreneurs, as well as representatives from major landowners such as the National Trust. A key highlight was the workshop, Farming Life After the Budget, hosted by event sponsors Shakespeare Martineau, Streets Chartered Accountants and Brown & Co JH Walter. This session tackled the often-challenging topic of succession planning, emphasising the importance of open conversations within farming families.
Additionally, the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society (LAS) and the University of Lincoln collaborated on a session focusing on Future Farming Skills and the Trafford Fund, which offers bursaries, grants, and scholarships to support individuals in the agricultural and rural sectors.
Charles Anyan, LFC Steering Group member, highlighted the impact of the event:
“It was incredible to see so many young people actively engaging in discussions about the future of farming. Succession planning is a crucial conversation, and it’s encouraging to witness the next generation stepping forward with enthusiasm. As the industry evolves, technology will play a key role in shaping its future.”
