Award winning McCallums Liquers among exhibitors at this year's Food & Gift Fair 29 Oct

The family-run company, who will be bringing their award-winning produce to the Lincolnshire Food and Gift Fair this December, received accolades for their Raspberry & Sloe Gin Liqueur and Yorkshire Rhubarb & Apple Gin Liqueur. The Great Taste Awards are judged by a panel of 500 experts and are described as “the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink awards”. Food critics, chefs, restaurateurs, producers, journalists and food writers make up the panel, who this year reviewed a total of 12,634 products.

It’s not the first time McCallums have been able to display the unmistakable black and gold Great Taste label on their products - they were given a one-star award for their Summer Fruits Gin Liqueur in 2017, just six months after its launch.

About McCallums Liqueurs

McCallums traditionally hand craft their gin liqueurs on a 15-acre fruit farm just outside Doncaster in South Yorkshire. High-quality English gin forms the basis of all the liqueurs in the product range, which are then infused with fruit harvested that’s been from their land, or sourced from local growers.

Each liqueur is delicately balanced and full of flavour – and it’s their versatility that has made them such a hit with customers.

David McCallum, Owner of McCallums Liqueurs and McCallums Farm Shop, said: “There is a clear market demand for gin-based liqueurs at the moment, and we are excited to once again have our products recognised by the Great Taste Awards.”

Behind the flavours

Judges gave McCallums’ Raspberry & Sloe Gin Liqueur one star at the 2018 Great Taste Awards. It’s a twist on a classic sloe gin with the addition of raspberries, and has been a particular hit with customers over the summer months.

The liqueur lends itself perfectly to being served long with ice and lemonade. Like all the products in the McCallums range, the Raspberry & Sloe Gin Liqueur has an abundance of natural flavours and sweetness, giving a smooth, well-balanced finish.

The Yorkshire Rhubarb & Apple Gin Liqueur – also awarded one star – showcases the best of Yorkshire produce. The delicate balance of sweet apples and sharp rhubarb has made this a year-round favourite with customers – and it’s fair to say it caught the attention of the judges as well.

David continued: “We’ve deliberately designed our liqueurs so they can be versatile. You can drink them neat, with a mixer or as part of a cocktail. We are constantly adding new flavours to our range and have received some great feedback from stockists and customers.”

Other products in the McCallums range include Summer Fruits Gin Liqueur, Greengage Gin Liqueur and Golden Raspberry Gin Liqueur. Each batch is hand-crafted and no additional flavours or additives are added to ensure a natural, quality finish every time.

McCallums will be showcasing their full range of products at the Lincolnshire Food and Gift Fair on 1st and 2nd December.
