Ferry Ales Brewery share their recipe for mulled beer 28 Nov

John from Ferry Ales Brewery:

"At F.A.B we are busy preparing for the Lincolnshire Food & Gift Fair making up the gift boxes and hampers and ensuring that we have enough bottles on hand. However on a cold evening there is nothing better than a warm drink so why not try out the recipe below. If you want to come an sample the beers please come and find us on stand 82. Look forward to seeing you.”

The recipe idea is for mulled beer based on our Rye Beer slippery hitch. You'll need:

  • 1 bottle of Slippery Hitch
  • 3 tablespoons of honey (or to taste)
  • 5 cloves
  • 2 crushed cardamom pods
  • 1 whole lemon
  • 0.5 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon of  ground ginger

Put the whole lot in a pan and gently warm until simmering and then simmer for about 5 minutes. Let it cool slightly and serve. Don’t boil as you will boil off the alcohol!
