The old Exhibition Hall is the home for education events here at the Showground and we're currently under construction to modernise this space
Education is at the heart of the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society's charitable objectives. And to help us to facilitate and grow our education programme, which already engages with over 13,000 young people every year, we've begun renovation work on the old Exhibition Hall.
The current building requires a new roof, windows, lighting and re-wiring. With construction work currently underway, the project will convert the Exhibition Hall into a building providing a modern, well-lit and safe large space for the Schools Challenge, Countryside Lincs, Lincolnshire Day and Agri-Food Careers Day. The existing Front Lounge will provide a smaller classroom style space to support hands-on training for teachers and pupils, and kitchen facilities to be used for the development of healthy eating programmes including Farmhouse Breakfast Week.
The new Entrance Lobby will provide a new Changing Places toilet and washroom. Over 250,000 people in the UK need Changing Places toilets to enable them to enjoy day-to-day activities that others simply take for granted. The new facility inside the Education & Visitor Centre will be accessible from both within the building and from the car park outside, ensuring that it will always be available for students and visitors who require use of it.
When not in use for educational purposes, the facility will be hired for external events. All profits from Lincolnshire Showground events are used by the Society to support the charity's work.
The benefits of this facility include:
The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society has led this project and can borrow funds to underwrite the full cost. The Charity is seeking funding from trusts, companies and private individuals to support this project and the further development of its educational work.
